 As with all business laptops, it has a plain design which will not win any awards but is subtle and serious. It is also rugged and can take the day to day knocks that constantly befall laptops that are taken everywhere. One of the reasons that the Extensa is one of my favourite sub £400 laptops is its battery life. With the combination of LED screen and 6 Cell Li-ion battery (other laptops in this range can sometimes be found supplied with a 4 Cell battery), the average run-time of the laptop extends to around 4 hours, which is great when you are out and about with it.

The 15.6 inch screen has a high definition native resolution and high levels of brightness thanks to the Cine Crystal technology that uses LED backlighting. This also makes the screen slim and energy efficient, which adds to the portability of the Extensa 5635Z. There is a built in webcam located above the screen, enabling video conferencing and basic still image capturing.

2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and an Intel processor power this laptop and there is also built-in Wi-Fi with Wireless N compatibility for fast wireless network connectivity and file transfers. Bluetooth connectivity is also included, making connecting peripherals and mobile phones easy  Windows 7 Home Premium is pre-installed, and runs quite smoothly with 2GB of RAM.
